Paramotor training

Courses that fit around real life. Learn on your schedule without a two-week boot camp or burning all your vacation days.

2026
Training season is underway

We schedule classes with each student directly. Tap Get started, tell us a little about yourself, and we’ll coordinate dates that work for you.

No boot camps

We don’t do boot-camp style training. Instead, we keep a flexible but structured schedule: a set syllabus, with sessions planned around each student. We try to group students together into training classes, but we know not everyone’s schedule allows that, so we stay flexible for you.

Time is hard to come by, and Arizona weather sometimes postpones a session anyway. That’s why we don’t ask you to take 8 to 15 days off work in a row.

Our training is designed for complete beginners: people with no flying experience who have always dreamed of it. Book your first session, then add more as you go until you’re flying solo with confidence.

Have questions first? The FAQ covers most of them. Welcome to the addiction.

Paramotor training

$3,200

Whether you want to run and launch on your feet or roll off on wheels, training is the same set price. You choose the style that fits your body and your flying, and we teach you to launch, fly and land it safely.

  • At least 16 hours of instruction, scheduled around you
  • Ground school through your first solo flights
  • Weekdays preferred; Saturdays by exception, no Sundays
  • Year-round

Training is four sessions of about four hours: ground school, ground handling, simulations and your first solo flights. Paying for one session holds your place in a class. Classes fill first come, first served. If one is full, we’ll put you in the next.

What you’ll learn

A formal syllabus takes you from the classroom to your first solo flight.

Ground school

  • Introduction to paragliding and paramotoring
  • FAR Part 103, the law, best practices and ethics
  • Weather
  • Helmets and safety gear
  • Radios, communication and apps
  • Airspace
  • Basic aerodynamics
  • Reserve parachutes
  • Where to fly

Equipment

  • Hands-on demonstration of wings, motors and different paramotor models
  • Motor mechanics and troubleshooting

Ground handling

  • Basic wing kiting
  • Advanced ground handling

Simulations

  • Takeoff and landing without the motor
  • Takeoff and landing wearing the motor
  • Takeoff and landing with the motor running

First solo

  • Assisted takeoff and climb to at least 300 ft
  • Shallow turns, S-turns and 360° turns
  • Throttle up and back to level flight
  • Assisted landing
  • Repeat until you’re confident, with review as needed

Training gear

You train on your own paramotor and wing, not a rental. Every machine and wing handles a little differently, so learning on the gear you’ll keep flying means everything you practice carries straight over, with no relearning when you switch. During training you’ll use our helmets and radio communication equipment, regardless of what other gear you have. Talk to us before you buy anything. We’ll help you choose equipment that fits you, and some paramotor gear can get you hurt. If you bring your own equipment, we’ll inspect it before your first flight.

A word of warning

You may read online that you should avoid schools that don’t rent training gear. We see it the other way around: rental gear is something you fly for a few days and then hand back, and switching to your own machine afterward is where unfamiliarity and uncomfortable situations creep in. Learning on the gear you’ll actually fly is the safer path.

Tandem

Discovery flight

$195Monday–Thursday · $235 Fridays and Saturdays (20.5% weekend uplift)

A tandem flight with one of our certified instructors, and the best way to find out if powered paragliding is for you. Expect at least 15 miles of flying (more when the weather allows), some light maneuvering, and views of open desert, mountains, wildlife and farmland. The flight is as gentle or as lively as you want it to be.

This FAA-authorized discovery flight is for people seriously considering training. Federal rules allow tandem flights only as instruction, so we don’t offer joyrides.

If you go on to train with us, your discovery flight counts as the first training module (familiarization). There’s no obligation to continue.

Flights depart from Arizona Farms, southeast of San Tan Valley. Look for the red-and-white “Arizona Farms” sign, turn immediately after it, and continue to the large graded dirt field.

Tandems fly mornings or evenings, Monday through Saturday. Monday–Thursday flights are $195. Friday and Saturday flights carry a 20.5% weekend uplift, for $235. No Sunday tandems.

Departure times depend on the weather. If wind or conditions aren’t safe, we’ll move your flight to the next suitable day. The pilot makes the final call.

Every passenger signs our waiver online before the flight. The link comes in your payment email, and it takes about five minutes on your phone or computer.

Tandem flights are flight instruction under FAA Exemption 9785H, held by Aero Sports Connection. See our ASC instructor authorization and the FAA exemption letter (PDFs).

Weather can change by the hour and is out of anyone’s control. We’re good at predicting wind, so most flights go as planned. If we do have to reschedule, it’s for your safety.
